Description[?]:
I was startled today to see Kirlawa listed as 'dormant' at http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5240 :O so this is just to reinstate our cultural protection and make sure that everything's still OK please. Based strongly on our original cultural registration of about two-and-a-half centuries ago http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=329720 Kirlawa Future Party, Green Party, Socialist Labour Party, please tell me if you have recommendations or suggestions or if there's anything in this that you would like to see changed, before it's sent to vote. Thank you! :) The nation of Kirlawa hereby reaffirms that its national culture is generally based upon Anglo-Celtic and Celtic culture (Irish, Scottish, Welsh, et al.) according to the Cultural Protocols at http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4374 Character naming: We suggest Anglo-Celtic, Celtic, or English names, as these represent the considerable majority of Kirlawa's people. Other names are OK too, since Kirlawa does have some immigrants from a number of other nations; Nordic, German, and Italian being the most prominent of these minorities. Cultural origins and influences: Kirlawa's original Anglo-Luthoran (OOC: Protestant) influence came via our ancient settlers from Luthori. Later Celtic influence came with subsequent large-scale immigration from Celtic areas of Terra, including (but certainly not limited to) some parts of Dovani. Smaller groups have arrived via immigration from our neighbouring nations (such as Germans subsequently arriving across the border from Dundorf, and Nordic refugees from Dorvik ... Dorvik itself appears to no longer have much if any Nordic influence, so here's where many or most of them went) and also from elsewhere across Terra (Italian from Istalia). Religious influences: Primarily a diverse, and peaceful, three-way mix of Pagan (mostly Celtic Pagan and nature worship), Hosian (OOC: Christian) of various denominations, and Secular. A few small minorities exist too, including Deanism (OOC: Buddhism) and the Cult of the Sacred Feline. However, please don't rename our cities :( They are fine as they are, and have borne these historic names for many centuries. |

Message | Kirlawa Future Party is really concerned about this issue. KFP will do anything they can to help reacting to this issue, but it takes time to improve the cultural situation of one place. So we must be paitnet. Thank you President of Kirlawa Future Party Mr. Aaron Cot |

Message | I'm afraid I don't understand, sorry. This is an OOC matter. It is part of the cultural protection process in Particracy -- which had been created in response to OOC problems having arisen with players in various nations trying to radically change their nations' cultures after gaining political power there. For a recent local example, remember that party that recently wanted to turn Kirlawa into (yet) another German country, discarding our existing culture? :( In order to make the Particracy world steadier and more realistic, and to prevent this confusing and totally unrealistic whipsawing of national cultures ("a month ago XYZistan had been Croatian, then two weeks ago it was all Eskimo, and now a new player has a political majority and wants to make it Hindustani"), Particracy's Cultural Protocols were developed a while ago. In this voluntary process, nations could register their culture, and they would be protected against any such attempts to suddenly change the culture. Kirlawa registered very soon after the system was implemented: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=329720 So, I thought that everything was OK. But then this morning I was shocked to see Kirlawa listed as "dormant" in that list of national cultures, which suggests that we might be losing our protection and becoming vulnerable to such hijacking. In order to reaffirm our cultural protection, I figured that this would be the most decisive way of doing so. It is very closely based on our original registration, with the biggest differences being the new names of the religions (because, between then and now, the OOC names of religions have become disallowed; we can no longer call them Christianity and Buddhism, but have to call them Hosianism and Deanism instead). So, this is completely an OOC matter. It is unrelated to ICly "improving the cultural situation". And I'm afraid that patience is the worst thing we can do -- because, the longer that we wait, the greater the likelihood that some hijacker will find Kirlawa in that "dormant" list, invade, and try to radically and drastically change our nation's culture. :( Please help keep Kirlawa OOCly culturally protected? Thank you! :) |
