Message | The HDV does not believe in the nationalisation of the police and the removal of higher appeal from the court system. For a country of our size and complexity, we would view such measures as counterproductive. Given our history, we think it is wise not to rush to conclusions about the powers of the police - we would, however, support article 2. |

Message | "I thank the HDV again for their feedback. The days of the dictatorship are long over, and we believe that there is no risk to the judicial and democratic privilege that we hold dear in any of our proposed legislation. We think that the changes to police search warrants is justified and if the HDV agrees perhaps the court and police clauses could be dropped to a later date and the bill focus upon this and prisoner votes?" |
