Debate
These messages have been posted to debate on this bill:
Date | 23:08:53, December 15, 2005 CET | From | Post-Revolutionary Pragmatic Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | We approve, except for article 4. We'd prefer the property owner to have the option to allow smoking, provided it is only allowed in a separate smoking room. This party would rather not force its voters to go outside for their daily dose of carcinogenic smoke. |
Date | 23:13:44, December 15, 2005 CET | From | Post-Revolutionary Pragmatic Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | Ah, apparently my right honourable friend was not yet finished with adding proposals. The article 4 of our previous post now refers to article 13. We're also opposed to the article on animal testing. Products must be tested one way or the other and our party does not consider animals worthy of governmental protection. (With a possible exception made for the more sentient species.) |
Date | 23:14:51, December 15, 2005 CET | From | Traxian Imperial Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | Essential the law is the same except smoking is banned in places of work, except for pubs. This will mean that while working people will not smoke at their desks creating a bad working environment and fire risk, also meaning people who work who don't smoke do not have to breath in the second hand smoke. While going out to pubs everyone should be free to go out and have a good time. |
Date | 23:17:01, December 15, 2005 CET | From | Traxian Imperial Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | Animals should not be used for purly cosmetic reasons, this not only makes animal breading one of the worse areas of industry (as quality does not matter for test subjects) but public opinion tends to be against. If my counter aruments cannot sway you, and other parties feel otherwise most conflicting articles will be removed. OOC: I did say this was a large bill :) |
Date | 23:29:56, December 15, 2005 CET | From | Post-Revolutionary Pragmatic Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | OOC: Yeah, sorry, guess I got here too quick. :p As for the smoking bill, this party agrees that second-hand smoke is a health risk - but this is not limited to the work place. We feel that requiring a smoke-free room to be available wherever smoking is allowed would be a better solution for smokers and non-smokrs both. However, this is not a mayor issue and could always be changed by a smaller bill in the future. This party disagrees on the animal testing issue, but is not in disagreement with the rest of the bill. As a compromise, we would suggest not changing the smoking part of the bill but dropping the animal testing article. |
Date | 23:40:18, December 15, 2005 CET | From | Nationalist Party of Gaduridos | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | We do not personally see a need to split this bill. |
Date | 00:17:26, December 16, 2005 CET | From | Traxian Imperial Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | The animal testing bill will be dropped, but we may repropose at a later date. |
Date | 08:23:24, December 16, 2005 CET | From | Totalitarian Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | The Totalitarian Party disagrees with articles two, ten and fifteen. Articles two and fifteen: We feel the poor should not be given any benefits merely because they are poor. Article ten: We feel the government is able to manage some industries better than the private sector. Waiting for a private company to fail may deprive some citizens of vital products and services while the company attempts to maintain profitability. |
Date | 09:28:10, December 16, 2005 CET | From | Traxian Imperial Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | Artileve two and 15: The poor in society have the same rights as the rich or middle class. As such only those truely poor, not self-aflicted poverty, will be given benefits to allow them to live prosuctive lives. Article 10: Having the government take over at the last resort increases competiveness and allows companies that supply vital goods to exist at all. Due to the nature of indusrty there is always at least one competitor for every industry and a stock of good is always retained so service would not be dimissed. This will fuel our economy while having a safety net for vital industry. |
Date | 14:13:26, December 16, 2005 CET | From | Progressive Imperial Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | We disagree with article 10. We feel that government ownership of some critical industries in neccessary for the good of all Gaduri, to ensure a certain level of service that may not otherwise be provided by corporations that engage in cost-cutting. If this article were dropped we would support the entire bill. |
Date | 20:02:56, December 16, 2005 CET | From | Traxian Imperial Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | Very well article 10 is now dropped. |
Date | 22:20:57, December 16, 2005 CET | From | Traxian Imperial Party | To | Debating the Large Reform Bill |
Message | As most of the main parties agree the bill will now go to vote. |
