Bill: Term Time Curfew Proposal

Details

Submitted by[?]: We Say So! Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2158

Description[?]:

In order to attempt to reduce the numbers of pupils taking time away from school due to illness, and to improve the attention of pupils during lessons, a curfew of not later than 11pm will be introduced during the school term. Should any minor, not in the company of an adult, be found on the streets, or on public property, between the hours of 11pm and 5am, will be returned to their place of residence. The name and address of the minor will be recorded, but there will be no formal charges brought against the minor or their families unless they are found out of bounds no less than 3 times, at which a maximum stipulated charge will be enforced against the parents.
Once the minor reaches the age of adulthood then any charges recorded through the Curfew system will be removed from their record.
The Curfew laws only operate during School Term Dates, and are not in operation during School and National Holidays. In order to police these laws properly all local schools will inform their respective Police Forces of their holiday dates.

MessageThe HPP was just writing on a bill to propose the same thing. We agree on this proposal, even though we didn't get first to put it up. :-)

MessageWe see no reason to limit our citizens' freedoms. There is no reason to believe that many children do stay out late and this bill appears to be trying to solve a non-existant problem.
