Voting deadline: February 3484
Description[?]:
The crux of this bill is that recognized religions will have more freedom to self-regulate, but the government will still be able to refuse that freedom to potentially dangerous cults. Article 1. This article flows naturally from what has just been said. We can accept missionaries from the major recognized religions of Terra, but forbid bizarre and potentially exploitative sects from trying to indoctrinate our citizens. Article 2. This will give local religious communities control over how they appoint their own ministers, whether they be rabbis, priests, imams or others. The autonomy of those communities will thus be expanded. Article 3. Again, the major recognized religions will be able to set up schools, with the understanding that they are mature and level-headed enough to self-regulate. They will not be forced to teach the national curriculum, though there are incentives to do so in order to prepare their students for higher education and the workforce. Article 4. The state should not push for prayers in institutions that choose to be secular, but should not prohibit them in any school that wishes to have them. |
