| Il Capo di Stato Marco Pannello, affidato l'incarico di formare un nuovo governo al segretario del partito di maggioranza del Senato, i Liberal-Democratici, affida ora allo stesso Senato il compito di dare a questo esecutivo la maggioranza richiesta dalla Costituzione. Il segretario dei Liberal-Democratici, Enrica Ledda, ha così espresso la sua impressione nella conferenza stampa al Quirinale: "Abbiamo espresso al Presidente Pannello le nostre congratulazioni per la sua elezione e abbiamo riferito le nostre intenzioni programmatiche. Nostra volontà è di guidare questo paese in un governo che abbia come colonne tre principi fondamentali: crescita, legalità, internazionalizzazione. A questo proposito chiediamo al Senato il voto".
