Bill: Marriage privatization act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Aurora Libertatis
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 3498
Description[?]:
We would urge the other parties to consider a system were the civil society, families, churches and other organisations, are allowed to define the term marriage as they wish themselves, without government interference. We are confident that this is a sound proposal from both a classical liberal and a conservative point of view. |

Message | The issue we have with this proposal is that, by actively removing government from marriage, you destabilise the nucleus of family and end up with a nation of serial divorcees and single parents. There would be further consequences in terms of forced marriages whereby the government could not stop young children being forced into relationships and perhaps sexual slavery. We are not fans of big government but, in this instance, government needs to maintain some kind of dignity within the marital process. |

Message | It is government interference that is ruining and cheapening marriage causing the divorce crisis. Nevertheless in these perilious for normalcy days, we need Government to issue laws ruling out some deviant forms of marriage.such as the filthy degenerate 'equal marriage' Nouri Al Sahlani Spokesman of the MPIC |

Message | Mr Speaker, We are concerned about the breakup of the family unit as well and prevalent promiscuity leading to divorces and suffering children. However, there isn't much point in having a marriage legislation that allows for free divorces and gay marriages if protecting the nuclear family as the least, most core part of the social fabric is the intent. With the current legislation, it has already been redefined as a simple "formalization of love". Forced marriages are, and will still be illegal, since forcing people to participate in religious or other ceremonies they don't want to take part in is illegal. Actually, it will become much less of a problem if the government recognizes no marriages whatsoever. Josephine Farangis MP (Reformist) TK Family Spokesperson |
