Message | This bill would deprive people of the security of a strong Government hand in regulating popular media affairs and providing non-commercially viable programming - long movies/radio shows about bucolic farmers, naughty rural lads, shy rural maids going about their work and old people who are too 'non-commercial looking' to make it to TV. Nouri Al-Sahlani Spokesman of the MPIC |
Date | 01:15:42, June 09, 2013 CET | From | Aurora Libertatis | To | Debating the Media Privatisation Act |
Message | Mr. Speaker, While we understand the concerns of Mr. Al-Sahlani and his party, we would like to comment on how a state-controlled media can be dangerous at times. Let us not forget that the media has done it's fair share in spreading fascist propaganda and xenophobic conspiracy theorists. We will accept this proposal. We might in the future propose a policy of supporting independent, non-profit channels instead, so that the people may receive programmes of quality and not only commercial things like "Pontesian Idol". Michael Inetus Sepehr MP (Reformist) Leader of the Opposition Prime Spokesperson of the Reformist Forum |

Random fact: In cases where players have failed to clearly and accurately reference their nation's RP laws in the "Bills under debate" section, Moderation will rule them invalid if a challenge is made to their validity. |
Random quote: "In Germany they first came for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me--and by that time no one was left to speak up." - Pastor Martin Niemoller |
