Message | Mr. Speaker, This bill will give the government a virtual MONOPOLY on energy production in the nation. What this means is that COST of electricity will skyrocket while the QUALITY is diminished. It is the same thing with every other industry in Rutania: if McDonalds' corporation owned a government-enforced MONOPOLY over all of the restaurants in Delvar, then they can charge an exorbitantly HIGH price while the QUALITY of the hamburgers is diminished. However, when McDonald's is "forced" to COMPETE in the same market by Burger King and Wendy's, then the INCENTIVE to make more profit for shareholders will drive each individual company in the market to work harder by producing a better QUALITY product (hamburgers, or in the case of the bill, electricity production) at a CHEAPER price. cf. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtOtV-gE3YQ (Capitalism 1948) cf. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6H63CD7uQA (Make Mine Freedom 1948) --Asia L. Message | Mr Speaker, I can't agree with this. As Ms Wright said, that would be a monopoly. We would agree on only nationalizing the energy grid: it would help to more energy companies to be created as they don't need to afford their whole grid cost and maintenance, and it would reduce grid duplications and pollution. We also would agree on regulate energy cost, to stop abuse. Waylon Thumb, DU Trade and Industry responsible. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, This is clearly a monopoly and we thank Minister Wright for pointing this out. We cannot support this bill. James Kenner UPR Congressional Leader |

Message | Mr Speaker, The present arrangement is already a monopoly, with one company running each section of the grid. Nonetheless, nationalisation does not work like a monopoly. The government, unlike private companies, has an incentive to keep prices down and quality up. |

Message | Dear the Distinguished Members of WSM: (1) How is the present arrangement already a "monopoly" when the law clearly states MULTIPLE companies each own a section of the grid?! (2) If we nationalize energy production, then it will lead to RATIONING of services which will lower quality. Buke Wigwe, Minister of Trade and Industry |
