Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Union
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 3503
Description[?]:
Members of the Parliament, People want to be safe. It isn't bad that they own firearms to self-defence. But nowadays EVERYBODY who hasn't been in jail and hasn't been tested for mental ilness can own a firearm. Mental illness is difficult to find if the person is never tested. So we propose to establish a Firearm License; everybody that has got or wants to buy a firearm, has to pass the following test: (1) Mental Test: Psychologists shall determine that this person is stable enough to use his firearm ONLY for animal hunting or self-defense, and NEVER to attack another person. (2) Physical Test: Doctors shall determine that this person has no diseases that can reduce his/her accuracy, like parkinson. This is to prevent colateral damage. Of course, this License shall never be issued to people who has been found guilty of violent crimes, whether he/she's gone to jail or not. This license will reduce drastically the deaths by murder, massacre and domestic violence. Our safety will be clearly improved. Lindsey Matt, DU Internal Affairs responsible. |

Message | DU Spokesman: Current law ALREADY requires a background check for a history of DANGEROUS (Read: violent) mental illness or violent criminality. We cannot scapegoat the mentally ill to prevent them from owning firearms for their self-defense if they have no history of violence. --Dr. Nicole S. Message | Honourable Ms Best, Are you saying we can't prevent the mentally ill from owning firearms if they have no history of violence? Of course we can. There is always a first time for violence. And this first time may cause injuries or deaths. Our task is to PREVENT this first violent outbreak, through this Firearm License. Lindsey Matt, DU Internal Affairs responsible. |
