Bill: 3502-03: Prisoners of War Treatment

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Union

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3503

Description[?]:

Members of the Parliament,

In case of war, if we capture foreign prisoners, we should treat them with our own laws, considering that:
(1) The prisoners shall not be given back to their country until the war is over.
(2) The prisoners will stay in militar prisons, and will be treated like Rutanian militar prisoners.
(3) If militar prisons are full, prisoners of war may be stored isolated in common prisons, but under the same militar laws.

To DU Spokesman, Mr. Camel:

If we treated captured Prisoners of War with dignity and respect, then other nations will treat OUR troops with the same dignity and respect if they are captured. In essence, this bill will legalize TORTURE of prisoners of war.

Internal Affairs Minister

MessageHonourable Minister Savage,

This law is far from legalizing torture. It's just to treat the prisoners of war according OUR laws, like every other convict. And we NEVER torture our prisoners. Prisoners of war shouldn't be treated worse than the rest of the prisoners, but this law is to ensure that they won't be treated better. They'll only be treated THE SAME than the rest of the militar Rutanian convicts.

Butt Camel,
DU Defence responsible.
