Message | Mr Speaker, surely providing child welfare to rich families has nothing to do with "eliminating poverty". What kind of sense does it make to redistribute the money of wealthy households to themselves apart from a growth in bureaucracy and unnecessary expansion in the public sector? Jeannine LeCoultre MP Member for Valdor Minister of Health and Social Services |

Message | Mr. Speaker, child benefit is not just about redistribution of wealth. It is a recognition of the special responsibilities involved with raising children. It should therefore be distributed on a universal basis. Leticia Saldanas MP Leader of the Opposition |
