Bill: Animal Biodiversity Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Union

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3506

Description[?]:

Members of the Parliament,

Animals are extinguishing, that's a fact. And that's because we destroy their habitat, and then they die alone, with nobody to help them.
We have to protect these species from extinction. Zoos and zoological institutions can; they will give them a nice and peaceful habitat, they will help them to reproduce and, when they're adults and can survive alone or in groups, they will re-introduce them in a suitable habitat.

(OOC: That's how they saved the Iberian Lynx from extinction: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iberian_lynx )

John Neumann,
DU Tourism and Environment responsible.

Mr. Neumann:

We don't understand the DU's stance: how can they be "activist" in protecting the lives of ANIMALS but fight for laws to allow the destruction of INNOCENT human life??? Do they NOT know that the life of humans TRUMP that of animals?! Therefore, we will vote "no" on his bill unless the DU switches its vote on the legalization of embryonic stem cell research (or the intentional DESTRUCTION of human life to cure diseases).

MessageHonourable Minister Legrottaglie,

When protecting biodiversity, we're actually protecting HUMAN LIVES. Each specie is VITAL for the ecologycal balance, and if one is missing, another has no food; the whole nature crashes and the human being may crash with it.
When protecting biodiversity we're protecting the whole human civilization. When using an embryo, we're using some cells to save millions of lifes. In my opinion, both are good. If you don't agree with one, I have no objections in you to vote no. But don't stop a good bill just because you don't agree with another bill.

John Neumann,
DU Tourism and Environment responsible.

MessageMr. Speaker

I have to agree that changing a party's position on one Bill as the reward for making a party vote otherwise on another Bill borders on corrupt practice and does not respect the party's original position on the other Bill, and therefore the voice of the party's constituents is simply discarded by flip-flopping on Bills by using them as a bargaining tool. Such behavior by any party may bring the practice of public representation into disrepute.

Aside from that concern, we also are concerned that the root cause of the issue focused upon by this Bill is not being properly addressed by this Bill, no matter how well intentioned it is. We at the Better Balance Party believe that the Democratic Union has good intentions in bringing this Bill forward, however the DU stated the following as the reason for bringing this Bill forward... "because we destroy their habitat, and then they die alone, with nobody to help them".

If the destruction of animals habitats is the REASON animals are on endangered lists, then we need to introduce Bills which would address the destruction of habitats, or else when the zoos release the animals into the wild, their habitats will no longer be there and they too will die and become extinct.

For this reason we will not be voting in favor of this Bill, but would like to aknowledge the DU's good intent in bringing it forward.

MessageMr Donaldson,

I agree with you. We must protect animals' habitats, through National Parks. But there are endangered species whose natural habitat is not in a National Park, or that park has been created too lately. We will add to this law that the natural habitat of endangered animals shall be recognised as a Natural Park, and if it's not possible (because it's too polluted, modified, etc.), they shall be re-introduced in a similar National Park.

DU Tourism and Environment responsible.

Mr. Neumann:

How can your party be saving HUMAN LIVES when you support the *intentional* destruction of human embryos just to "use" them to cultivate their stem cells??? Technology has proven that ADULT stem cells are *better* in producing results to cure cancer etc.

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.
