Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2159
Description[?]:
1: This bill is proposed to discuss our means to prohibit the exportation of weapons to foreign countries. Why should we sell weapons to nations that later can become enemies or will sell our weapons to terrorists? Let's stop this sale. 2: this bill is also and foremost proposed to change the weapons prodcution so, now that exportation of weapons is allowed, it should be in our interest that the state generate money in the selling. Therefore we should nationalize the defence industry. Please comment on both proposals. |

Message | The problem with the second article is that the current legislation allows us to sell only to close allies, as we can judge what nations are sold arms. Also, this allows for extra revenue by selling arms to passive, non-aligned states. |
Date | 12:18:03, December 19, 2005 CET | From | Hobrazian Peoples Party | To | Debating the Weapon exportation bill |
Message | The second article is to ensure that there is broad backup to the sale of weapon, and that it is not up to the government who chairs the post at the selling time. This proposal has been made to assure control with the, at any time, sitting government. The HPP don't believe in selling weapons to passive, non-alligned nations. They don't need weapon in such a scale, and can produce weapons themselves. These nations can not be trusted in teh same way as our close allies. |

Message | A case-by-case system gives us more control of who get what weapons in what quantities then simply allowing all trades to allies. |

Message | why? Remember that the bill also includes a proposal to nationalize the defence industry. |

Message | If it's case-by-case we judge every arms shipment and decide whether it should be allowed to go ahead. By trading only to close allies the bill makes no guarentees that these checks will remain in place. This would also reduce our possuible trading partners. As for the nationalisation we also see no reason for it and prefer the competition the private sector brings in redcuing prices for our own military. |

Message | We want to reduce our potential trading partners to allies only. This makes sense. We still judge every shipment because it is the state who owns the defence industry. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
