Message | Mr. Speaker, In which world teacher-led prayers give religious freedom to children? If the teacher leads the prayer, all the children must follow teacher's religion, so there is NO religious freedom. I must remember you that Rutania is a secular nation; why our Public Schools aren't secular? The place where children should practice a religion is a temple, a home or even a religious private school, but NEVER a Public School. My son Erik is atheist like his parents, I want him to study in a Public School, and I don't want him to practise ANY religion. Why should him? Just because you and your party want? Message | Mr. Speaker, We truly believe that it should be up to the school to decide. Yes, Rutania is a very secular nation, but that doesn't mean we should discredit the views of people who are religious. Let the schools decide fro themselves if they want to allow prayer or not. Message | Ms. Bender, If the individual LOCAL school decides to hold a prayer, your son Erik can very easily be EXCUSED from the room and not participate if he doesn't desire to. --Dionne Mosely, Minister of Education and Culture |

Message | Ms. Wilson, I live in a small Khodorian village called Bintston. In Bintston, there is only a school, so I have no other option than taking my children to this school. I can't take them to another school because the nearest is 18km away. They are agnostic. If the Bintston Elementary School allows teacher-led prayers, my children will have to pray, and I don't want them to pray, because I want to educate them in a secular sphere. My rights, and the rights of millions of Rutanians, would be violated. Nico Kongzi, DU Education & Culture manager |

Message | Mr. Mosely, So my son will have to leave the class for some minutes? I think this was used as a punishment. I prefer that my son uses these minutes to learn something, better than being waiting in the corridor. As I said before, the place to perform prayers is a temple or a private home, but not a school. Sarah Bender, DU Parlamentary Spokeswoman. |
