This bill ends the current government ownership of the energy industry. This bill allows energy companies to operate under private ownership which is more benefical for Hobrazia as a whole. Economic growth and lower consumer cost is what the government should work for, and not more of nationalised industry whith the predictable results: lower wages, poor output, and flatlined economic growth. |

Message | We can't possibly support. Since the energy industry provides such a vital service to the citizens of our nation, the government must take efforts to ensure that consumers are not at the mercy of energy companies to receive this integral facet of modern life. While competition among rival companies may be healthy for certain industries, this is not the case in the energy sector. It is very difficult schematically to create a paradigm that gives competing businesses equal access to all markets, often leaving the pathway open for monopolies which can charge as much as they want for service. Frankly, we do not see this as what you describe as "economic growth." And how would this contribute to "flatlined economic growth"? There will always be an increasingly higher demand for energy, whether it is provided by the public or private sector. Even if I didn't think that energy should be nationalized, I would still oppose this bill because the companies "are not subject to any regulations." Why on earth should there be no safeguards for consumers!?! When the lower classes are freezing to death because they cannot afford energy, you will have their blood on your hands. Even if compromise is unlikely, at least take a stab at it! I wouldn't test Smith's "invisible hand" theory when it could cost the poor dearly; it's just not ethical. |
