Bill: Paramilitaries Bill 3513
Details
Submitted by[?]: Jelbénkai Utrji Spjogad
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 3514
Description[?]:
The situation with political paramilitaries in Jelbania needs to be urgently reviewed, and severe measures must be introduced to curb these unregulated vigilante & street action groups from intimidating others and, in some cases, turning to violence. We have a police force to deal with crime and other issues and it is right and proper that the police force should be the sole organisation enforcing order on our streets in a political neutral way that adheres to official guidelines, not party dogma. The Cosmopolitan Alliance will never accept a paramilitary affiliate, and we call on the other parties to make the same pledge by backing this bill to make paramilitary organisations illegal. Progress, change and dialogue is best nurtured through the legislative and democratic process - not with sticks and stones. |

Message | We reject this measure wholeheartedly as yet another thinly-veiled attempt to exterminate the rightful owners of these lands. We would challenge you to name any instance of recent partisan violence that would merit an action like this ; as it's clear that you simply want the Jelbek people unarmed and unprotected. Yours in friendship, Mr. Krsyijkai Jeztri, Clan-Chief of Jeztri Founder, President, and Treasurer of the United Northern Union Political Union Great Unifier and Protector of the Jelbek Race |

Message | The Cosmopolitan Alliance shares your concerns about the welfare of the Jelbek people - and considers their safety, and the justice system which protects them, of paramount importance when dealing with paramilitaries. We feel the best way forward, and to foster a stable society, is a blanket ban on these groups. We also take on board the issues your party has raised regarding arms and the Jelbek people, and are prepared to offer a compromise by offering a new bill on the right to bear arms, which will be forwarded shortly. This bill will propose changing the current law which stands as : Adult individuals may own guns under strict license conditions. with this alternative: Individuals are allowed to own firearms as long as they do not have a history of dangerous mental illness or a violent criminality. We hope this will address your concerns in the area of firearms and also feel that this proposal respects Jelbek culture and history. As the collected peoples of the steppe we have hunted in these lands for generations. Handling firearms, then, is just a way of life for some. |
