Bill: Green Reform Bill

Voting deadline: May 3515

Description[?]:

We of the United Northern Union Political Union feel that Jelbanians need less restrictions when it comes to matters of ecology and conservation. It's the industrial powerhouses of Artania who burn holes through our ozone layer, it's the haphazard and unregulated slave mines of Deltaria that fill out majestic lake with slurry and runoff, it's the wanton and bloodthirsty white hunters of Cobura who drive Majatra's vulnerable species to the edge of extinction, and it's the Pntek whalingmen who harry and hunt the great old men of the oceans without restrictions, restraint or limitation.

We are but honest people, and we should not go jobless and hungry to pay for the greed of other nations.

MessageWe cannot agree with this bill due to proposals which contradict Alliance policy, namely policies on recycling, whaling, pollution & national parks.

Establishing a national park system is something the Alliance fought for tooth and nail, and we feel it helps preserve our pristine wildernesses, giving rural farmers & urban-dwellers alike the chance to experience virgin landscapes on their own terms. While it places minor restrictions on nomadic wanderers, the vast majority of land is open for them to practice their traditional lifestyle, so we feel it makes sense to keep limited areas aside to flourish free from human interference.

We would, however, be open to negotiations on the keeping of exotic animals as we feel there is room to relax this law, while we also suggest that local governments should be able to set their own policy on endangered animal hunting.

Random quote: "Global warmers predict that global warming is coming, and our emissions are to blame. They do that to keep us worried about our role in the whole thing. If we aren't worried and guilty, we might not pay their salaries. It's that simple." - Kary Mullis
