Bill: Treaty Revisitation ; Aldegar Canal Treaty

Details

Submitted by[?]: Krsyijkai Jeztri Prta

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 3516

Description[?]:

We feel that this treaty is not in the best interests of Jelbania. It obligates us to defend a faraway nation, but does not guarantee anyone will defend us if we are invaded. Although it does provide us with commercial profits, we are not a nation of mercenaries and hired goons, and should not be obligated to involve ourselves in disputes halfway across the world.

If Aldegar is attacked by parties who would close the canal to us, we submit that perhaps the best course of action for us will indeed be to mobilise in their defense. But that is a discussion for another day, and we should be free to decide our response then and there.

Random fact: It is not allowed to call more than 5 elections in 5 game years in a nation. The default sanction for a player persisting in the early election tactic will be a seat reset.
