Bill: Church of Alduria - National Church Act of 3523
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 3524
Description[?]:
This Act establishes the Church of Alduria as our national Church, although membership would be voluntary. The C of A is our historic Church ( http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Alduria although needs an update, scroll down to religion ) having first been founded in 2154 ( http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=34458 ), however throughout most of its history it hasn't been the established Church, ratehr the largest denomination in Alduria. The C of A started as the Aldurian branch of the Terran Catholic Church ( http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=31494 ) ( http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1844 ) before splintering away in protest against the practices of the TCC (or TPC as it is now). The C of A is an Episcopal Church ( http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Bishopal_Church ), with heavy influence from the TPC, the Church of Luthori ( http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Luthori_Church ) and the Orthodox Catholic Church (now the Theognosian Church http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Theognosian_Church ). It maintains High Church and Low Church wings, representing more Catholic and more Protestant rites respectively. Throughout Alduria the Canrillaişe rite is primarily used, except in Harkonia and northern Mondalat where a Harkonian rite tends to be used in rural areas. Churches in immigrant communities often use an immigrant language rite (although there are not many of these Churches). The C of A remains the largest Hosian Church in Alduria. The Church will be organised in an Episcopal manner, with Archbishops for each of the regions, and then a number of Bishops for each region depending upon population size. The Archbishops will be chosen in sucession from the High/Low Church wings, and the Archbishop of Harkonia should always be an Harkonian speaker, with the Archbishop of Aldur retaining primacy as the Primate of Alduria. Even if this doesn't pass, the Church organisation and existance remains valid, it just won't be the Established Church |

Message | Thoughts? I have tried to keep it as open as possible to appeal to as many different people as possible. The Church won't necessarily be liberal/conservative, Protestant/Catholic, as it consists of many different strands (hence why it is historically the main denomination in Alduria). |

Message | The Archbishop of Aldur was made Primate, and separate from the Archbishop of Bendiri, in 3196 (internally), and confirmed by the Estates-General in 3236 under "Constitution of the Estates-General", when the regional Archbishops were given seats in the Estates-General, while the Archbishop of Aldur stayed strictly religious... |

Message | UltraRoyalists, the Bill you mention doesn't say anything about the Archbishop of Aldur being Primate http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=335995 Nor does the earlier restoration of the Church http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=329612 |

Message | As it looks like no one else has any points to make, we'll push to vote |

Message | It was unnecessary to write down internal church policies because of de facto power and de jure control over the Church being ours. The fact that the Regional Archbishops were made direct political offices under the Estates-General precluded them internally as Primate of Alduria, and we have used that position innumerous times since then, that the Secretary-General of the Holy Luthori Church (think Anglican Communion) is the Primate of the Church of Alduria (think Episcopal Church), who is the Archbishop of Aldur (think Archbishop of Canterbury)...that has been consistently held in all internal and foreign polices conducted by us... |

Message | If it is not written down anywhere, then it doesn't count. |

Message | Your 'proposed' hierarchy was not written down on any of the bills you listed either. This is a exercise in cooperation and good faith. We were offering you ours, but getting none in return. |

Message | Erm, seriously? What point did you make that wasn't considered? The Archbishop of Aldur retained his primacy? Did you even read the description? |
