Bill: Military Reforms Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Republican Party of Darnussia
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 3525
Description[?]:
This bill attempts to provide citizens of the Imperial Commonwealth with a better life by providing them with a civilian police force separate from the military. It also removes the unfair law requiring military service, but still leaves the government the option to require service during war. Furthermore, the bill will allow homosexuals to serve in the military so long as they aren't open about it since our current policy unfairly discriminates against people due to sexual orientation. Finally it makes the Imperial Commonwealth safer and more civilized by creating a state run defense industry, and respecting the basic rights of prisoners of war. |

Message | I'm open to any other suggestions from both parties, but personally I think that these reforms are a nice compromise between the views of both the Coalition of Loyalists and the Republican Unionist Party. |
Date | 14:22:55, August 01, 2013 CET | From | Loyalistische Partei | To | Debating the Military Reforms Act |
Message | The Coalition does not agree on these proposals. Mandatory military service is a centuries old tradition, and we will not support anything that endangers this tradition. We also oppose creating any nationalized defence industries, the private sector has worked much better in the past. Also, military has traditionally protected our civilian population in times of war and in times of peace as a police unit. We see no reason to change this. We could be open to changing into "don't ask, don't tell" policy with homosexuals in the army, and changing the treatment of prisoners of war. |

Message | What if the proposals regarding mandatory service and nationalized defense industries are removed from the bill, and the civilian police force with military help during emergencies only is replaced by a civilian police force backed up by the military. In addition the bill will now legalize torture for obtaining information. |

Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play. |
