Bill: Expanding Abortion Rights Part 2

Details

Submitted by[?]: Phillipsian Party of Dranland

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 3525

Description[?]:

The Phillipsian Party believes that we cannot legislate our personal opinions about abortion, that the decision of what to do with one's pregnancy is a woman's choice alone, and that the government cannot stand in the way of that choice, and must level the playing field by funding it.

MessageMr Speaker,

we strongly reject the hedonistic idea of 'choice' propagated by the PPD which is based on the idea that forcing others to pay for gruesome practice of abortion is anything like freedom. What about the freedom of conscience of religious and pro-life citizens who morally reject the idea of paying for the elimination of unborn life? Isn't that also something the government ought to protect if it wants to act as a safeguard of liberty?

MessageMr. Speaker,

One could argue the same about entering wars. There are plenty of pacifist citizens of Dranland who would not want their tax dollars to go to war, but Dranland has still entered war. If religious and pro-life citizens do not want to support abortion, then they shouldn't get abortions. The government must protect and safeguard a woman's right to choose.

MessageMr Speaker,

national security is a key responsibility of government that affects every citizen equally and thus justifies taxation for its funding, while abortion isn't. Abortion is a cruel and unnecessary practice that bears no political importance at all and should thus be left alone by the state. It is merely championed by feminist radicals who misleadingly portray it as a crucial element of freedom, which is a perverse idea. Government-sanctioned mass slaughter against the unborn is certainly not an expression of liberty whatsoever.
