Message | Mr. Speaker, This bill will take the HONESTY out of electoral campaigns by encouraging legalized BRIBERY of elected officials. This bill will make it HARDER for the working POOR to run for public office who do NOT have a lot of money. --CWFP Spokesman |

Message | OOC: I never understood what public financing meant. Does it mean that the public is financing the campaign or the government? Because I know the US actually helps finance a campaign for candidates who are running for President to a certain extent. |

Message | OOC: UPR, public financing refers to the fact that the GOVERNMENT gives public funds (out of the treasury) to candidates running for office. In NYC/NYS, public financing is the BEST in the nation as for every PRIVATE Dollar a candidate raises , the Gov't gives him/her $6 in public matching funds. The system ensures more COMPETITION in politics as little well-known candidates who have GREAT ideas have an EQUAL chance to win an election. Hope this helps. |
