Message | Mr. Chairman, We support the proposal for the state to own and operate a national ISP alongside private ones, but we oppose the other proposals. -- Bart Rock, Science/Technology Minister |
Date | 06:28:23, August 14, 2013 CET | From | Impartialist Society | To | Debating the Research and Technologies Act |
Message | I believe that I must have misunderstood what the ruling party is suggesting in their statement, Mr. Chairman. It seems they agree with the testing of potentially harmful chemicals on animals along with giving other nations the right to freely use technologies and other modern developments, indigenous to our country, without protecting the usage of said propaganda by implementing patents. |

Message | Mr. Chairman, We support the current law regarding the use of animals in cosmetics research. Regarding the software patent law, we do not understand what the Impartialist party is suggesting, considering that our courts have no jurisdiction over foreign nations. The current law, on the patenting of software techniques, is made to ensure that the people of this country have a more communal approach to progress. Technology and designs should be shared, instead of selfishly hoarded. -- Bart Rock, Science/Technology Minister |
Date | 06:42:41, August 14, 2013 CET | From | Impartialist Society | To | Debating the Research and Technologies Act |
Message | It is not a matter of hoarding, but a matter of protection the property of an individual's intellectual or physical property (this also applies to the government). In the event that there is a need/want for the usage of said technologies, permission can be sought from the owner of said patent or from the government. |
Date | 06:46:41, August 14, 2013 CET | From | Great National Republican Guard | To | Debating the Research and Technologies Act |
Message | Mr. Chairman, As the government represents the public sector, the Impartialists couldn't possibly be referring to the government. The government cannot have private property in this country. Who are we protecting it from? Our own people? -- Jack Williams, Justice Minister |
Date | 06:59:28, August 14, 2013 CET | From | Impartialist Society | To | Debating the Research and Technologies Act |
Message | What we are protecting it from is misuse of public property. |
Date | 07:08:32, August 14, 2013 CET | From | Great National Republican Guard | To | Debating the Research and Technologies Act |
Message | Mr. Chairman, It's software design. It's not like something that is limited and can be stolen so that someone else is deprived of it. Anyway, we will not vote in favour of this bill, as we already said that we support the current law regarding the use of animals in cosmetics research. The only thing we would have supported is the new law on ISPs, but it's too late because the bill has already been set to vote. -- Bart Rock, Science/Technology Minister |

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI). |
