Bill: Hemp Control Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Dorvish Popular Front

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2051

Description[?]:

Marijuana use can cause airway injury, lung inflammation and impaired pulmonary defense against infection. The major potential pulmonary consequences of habitual marijuana use of particular relevance to patients with AIDS is superimposed pulmonary infection, which could be life threatening in the seriously immonocompromised patient. In view of the immonosuppressive effect of THC, it is likely that regular marijuana use could enhance progression of HIV infection itself . Its benefits are totally unproven. There are many alternative medicines and painkillers that dont have such a bad side effect. Legalising for medicinal purposes will cause an increase in recreational use.

MessageWe oppose this, and in fact would move to greater legalization.

Laws are supposed to prevent people from hurting each other, or the society. What you put into your own body is strictly your concern. When the government gets involved, all we see is a degradation of respect for the law, with its attendant increases in both crime and oppressive gov't.

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play".
