Bill: End Third-World Poverty & Free Trade Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Capitalist Working Families

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 3542

Description[?]:

Dear Members of the Parliament:

(1) We are RE-submitting this bill because *all* of the members of the Parliament did not get a *chance* to vote.

(2) In light of the recent Presidential election, the *People* have spoken by ousting the corrupt members of the Sunbeam Squad Party out of power in favor of the Miniarchist League of Rutanians. In fact, they have won consecutive Presidential elections much *more* than the Sunbeam Squad which pretty much means that the people *favor* Capitalism and *Free Trade* over socialism and government regulated trade. Moreover, in this year's Parliamentary elections, the CWFP actually had the *largest* spike (+ 5.23%) in legislature seats than any other party which means that our message to the people are resonating despite claims from the Sunbeam Squad (and the National Purity Union who actually had the *largest* lost of seats at -8.11%) that we are "science illiterate" in response to our *democratically-popular* position of *un*-regulating commercial fishing.

(3) Before you "criticize" Capitalism in favor of Socialism, ask yourself this one *simple* question: *why* are mostly *Third*-World countries (in Rutania) living in abject poverty as opposed to the more industrialized nations??? The answer, believe it or not, has *nothing* to do with the ideology of "Captialism vs. Socialism."

(4) On the contrary, current law that allows the National Governments to subsidize *inefficient* domestic farmers is actually *supported* by the multi-billion RUT Corporate Agricultural industry. :O

(5) The *reason* that *Third*-world poverty exists is because by local governments subsidizing *inefficient* domestic farmers in Rutania, it makes the agricultural exports from the mostly *Third*-world countries in Terra *artificially* high and thus get *locked* out of the market. Unfortunately, if these *Third*-world countries cannot "sell their crops," they will not make any money and *starve*.

(6) Were the Government of Rutania were to simply *get out* of the agriculture market, *Third*-world countries that are actually much more *efficient* at producing crops can sell them on the market at a *lower* price than even the domestic farmers who's price is only *artificially* lower with "government protection" (but still ironically *higher* than the Third-World crops).

(7) (a) Finally, in response to the Democratic Union's (who experienced the *largest* drop in legislature seats as a result of restricting Free Trade) point that foreigners will dominate agricultural trade, well that is actually a *benefit* or the *whole point*.

(b) Let us *explain*: in economics, we call that *Comparative Advantage*!! In other words, if the Republic of Lodamon (for example) is more *efficient* in the production of corn and oranges and the Commonwealth of Rutania (our nation) has a *Comparative Advantage* and/or is more *efficient* in the production of "coal" and "iron," then that means the citizens of Lodamon would *specialize* in the trade of corn and oranges while we likewise in the trade of coal and iron.

(c) In the *end*, though, *both* of our nations benefit from a *higher* Gross Domestic Product and more efficient terms of scale. It is a "win/win" for both of our countries and generally leads to *higher* sensations of *peace* and international cooperation (in Terra).

Thank you very much for your support. :)

Random fact: Players consent to the reasonable and predictable consequences of the role-play they consent to. For example, players who role-play their characters as committing criminal offences should expect those characters to experience the predictable judicial consequences of that.
