In order to allow Unions and their affiliates to strike, but also so as to guarantee that the entire economy cannot be held to ransom by a few trade unions, only closely related Unions may go on strike in sympathy with another. Closely related is classified as: - In, or directly linked to, the same industry; - In, or directly linked to, the same comapany. Any Unions striking in sympathy but who do not meet the above criteria will face criminal prosecution. |
