Bill: FSDP Military Act 3561

Details

Submitted by[?]: FSD Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 3562

Description[?]:

Article 1 - Allowing only a certain race or religion to serve in the Armed Forces is ludicrous, allow the military to choose who serves within it - it is time that we decided to trust our military men and women to make the right decisions, no-one is better placed to decide who can serve, than those already serving.

Article 2 - Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen are trained in the profession of arms, and exist to kill or capture the enemy, not common criminals. Civilian law enforcement should be undertaken by civilian law officers, yes, backed up by the overwhelming might of the armed forces, but not tripping over them at every turn. A de-facto police force is a hallmark of the atrocious political decisions of the past, we must work to correct this.

Article 3 - The current system of paramilitary forces, backed up by a part time military force is plain dangerous, paramilitaries should have no place in a modern and capable military structure, Lodamun has historically been a strong military power and it is time that we returned to that status, we must raise and maintain a full time, professional military force for the defence of our nation and the aid of our allies (those that are left).

Article 4 - In order to allow the proposed full time military and the civilian police forces to operate effectively, we need to remove their predecessors, the paramilitaries.

MessageMr Speaker,

We understand the resistance to abolishing the paramilitary organisations, but the FSDP is set in stone on this issue. Nothing but a full time, professional military will do for Lodamun.
We would like to extend the hand of a friend to those who are members of these organisations, I applaud their efforts towards the security of this nation, and further encourage them to join the military forces as they begin to take that responsibility from you.
We call upon all members of this parliament to support this bill, in the hope of building a better Lodamun for all.

- William Chapman,
Minister of Defence.

MessageArticle 1 arms persons of foreign religions who may want to destroy our state. They may betray us in favour of foreign gods and foreign militaries.

Article 2 is outrageous. What strong military can we have with Article 2? This is liberal madness, Sir.

We currently have full-time militaries; it is just that they are private instead of government-owned. They are heavily regulated, ensuring that they remain professional, and I think that is enough.

Article 4 would cause a problem with our policing law, considering policing is left up to mercenaries as well. We are aware that a change was proposed in a separate bill, but they should have been proposed in the same bill to avoid confusion that can be caused when one passes and the other fails.

MessageMr Speaker,

While we understand the position of Vice President Moore and of his party, and while we are open to the watering down of this bill, there are certain areas that we must insist upon a move from mercenary groups to a full time military.
Would the NRG be open to this change if it was carried out over time?

Minister of Defence.
