Bill: Pornography act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Freedom Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 3575

Description[?]:

Mr Speaker,

While the Good Peoples Movement is generally skeptical towards pornography and it's influence on our people, we must also realize that any regulation costs billions of tax money to enforce. As long as we don't introduce a total ban on pornography, using tax money to try to keep it from minors is largely wasteful. Parents are better left to regulate this.

MessageMr. Speaker,

There is considerable evidence that exposing children to pornography can be harmful to them, because they are not mature enough to understand what they are really dealing with. They may come away with an attitude, for example, that women are sex objects, or even that it is okay to molest or rape women. For this reason, we would prefer children were not able to walk into stores and purchase pornographic material.

MessageMr Tanaka,
Why do you believe the state is more competant in raising children than parents?

MessageMr Speaker,

It is certainly not our ambition to replace parents with the state. What we do want to do, however, is to support parents in their efforts to protect their young children from pornographic material that would be harmful to them.
