Whatever our private or personal feelings about religious faith are, those on both sides of the question know that state-religion intertwining sullies both, and helps neither. We hope this bill will advance the cause of religious freedom in this great nation. |

Message | Herr Präsident, we would like the state religion to remain in place as a symbol of the values that formed our nation and also served as a foundation for the development of Septembrism. We would, however, back the remaining proposals in a separate bill. Janina Stadtmann, MdR LVP-Budenlar Klubobfrau der Liberalen (parliamentary leader of the Liberals) |
Date | 22:55:11, November 11, 2013 CET | From | Hosianisch-Demokratisches Verbund | To | Debating the Gewissensfreiheit |
Message | Herr Präsident,, We share Frau Stadtmann's concerns. The House knows our position on blasphemy, but we would be amenable to liberalising the promotion of religion. die sehr ehrenwerte Frau Anne Nishimura, MdR (HDV-Labsburg St. Martinus) Klubobfrau des HDVs und designierter Staatsministerin |

Message | Herr Präsident, In contrast to the views of my soon-to-be coalition partners, we support this bill. To consider blasphemy an offense - if only a minor one - seems rather incredulous in this modern era of free-speech and political thought. Personally, I do not feel that the basis for Septembrism can solely be found within religion. Whilst I and the members from the Hosianisch-Demokratisches Partei would be the first to state that religion was and is an important part of some elements of Septembrism, a belief in democracy and independent thought - regardless of creed or race - seems (to me at least) to form an essential part of Hulstrian life noticeably apart from religion. Random quote: “The people's war isn't just a war of destruction, it is also a war of construction. We will build new facilities, new hospitals, new farms. We will seek to improve the lives of the people around us. This struggle will be as costly as the struggle against the bourgeois army, and indeed will be even more damaging to the enemy.” - Comrade X, former Hulstrian politician |
