| (OOC: So a quick explanation: we use our HoS title to change monarchs. The convention is that once a monarch dies, the controller of the Royal House, i.e. me, puts up a bill to change the HoS title. At that point, we RP that the monarch is the new one, no matter what, so this is just a formality and I hope everyone regardless of their views on the monarchy will vote in favour. Also, I'd like to plead with you to consider the retention of the monarchy. The dual monarchy is a unique system on the game which is deeply grounded in this nation's history. I, personally, am very much invested in having made it this way, and I hope that you guys will appreciate that and play parties that are at least apathetic to the issue, so that this unique form of government will be preserved. In short, it was a creation of Thomas, Graf Michels after the September Revolution for reasons of integrating Hulstrians and Gao-Showans, giving them both their separate monarchs who shared in sovereignty on the national level. That was needed sorely at that point because the dual monarchy that pre-existed aggravated ethnic tensions that had existed for a long time when the country was solely Greater Hulstria and led to a collapse of the democratic system in which a Fascist/Zen Socialist party grabbed power. The democratic opposition, led by Graf Michels, were like "never again" and came up with this. | Message | OOC: Also, I always thought it rather odd how people would RP solely monarchist or republican parties. Parties only organise in such a way following scandals, crises and all that, and none are the case in routine politics. Even the HDV has republican members, by the way. |
