Message | If the TSDW is confident that it can do a better job of running these companies, it is welcome to use its members' money to invest in these companies and take them over. Since the reality is likely to be that if the people who risked their own capital, and had experience of running such a business, couldn't succeed, then the chances of the TSDW doing a better job are slim to none, I would rather that they didn't use the power of the State to take my money by force and throw it at these failed ventures. |

Message | This does not increase taxes, so noone is taking anything by force. |

Message | So which current funding are you proposing to cut in order to find the money to invest in these failing businesses? Since they are unprofitable and you intend not to let them fail, you will have to keep putting money into these businesses, so you will have to keep diverting funding away from things that government actually should be doing (e.g., law enforcement, defence) in order to dabble in business. If the taxes we pay at the moment are the right amount to pay for the services we *need* from government, then the redirection of taxes away from important services to pay for civil servants to play at running a business may not strictly be theft, but it is certainly unacceptable on every level. If instead you are suggesting that we are paying too much in tax at the moment for the services we *need*, why not pay us back the money you have already taken, and then those of us who trust you to run businesses can by choice give you the money for you to spend on your ventures? |

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map. |
