Message | Herr Präsident, I believe we can all agree that the freedom of religion is a sacred right of all human beings. Some of my constituents, and many of those represented by party colleagues, have indicated to me that they feel their Hosian values conflict with organ donations. I hear my colleague Herr Strumpfe can hardly contain his enthusiasm. For the record, Herr Präsident, I am a donor myself and proud of it, and the number of donors should be respected. Yet it causes pain for some of my constituents who subscribe to the traditional belief that the body should stay integral after death. To them, their loved ones are excluded from life eternal, a pain that must be unbearable. To recognise that, we must weigh their consciences into the process of organ donation, which is why we propose this bill. Nobody suggests the families of donors will take this decision lightly - but we should give them the opportunity, in case that this would cause pain to them the rest of their lifes, to make their consciences heard. It is the decent thing to do. Herr Klaus Marlberge, MdR (HDV - Budenlar) Klubobmann der Hosianisch-Demokraten |

Message | Herr Präsident, we do not see how the current law restricts families from deciding collectively on how to handle the issue of organ donation. However, the difference between the current law and the proposed reform is that the former ensures that the will of the deceased is not neglected in any case, which we consider crucial in upholding the principle of self-ownership, which constitutes an important pillar of liberal thought. Message | This is truly an outrageous infringement on the rights of the individual. Though not expected, coming from the HDV. J. Hachlau WAP Backbencher |

Message | Herr Präsident, individual rights are only legitimate if they are universal - that cannot be said if abortion remains unregulated, and thus the right to life, the very foundation of all freedoms, is denied to so many. Hans Holzinger, MdR LVP-Mitrania Klubobmann der Liberalen |
