| Message | Because they are PRISONERS. They are not working without pay, rather they are working in exchange for the shelter and food that the State is supplying them with despite their crimes. Where is the motivation to not commit a crime if you get pampered in prison? |

| Message | Letting people get proper jobs for pay in a prison will de-alienate them from society. It will help them develop skills they will need once they get back out in society. The Conservatives appear to think that prison is some form of reward for the prisoners' labour? This is outrageous! People go to jail to get re-educated and to function properly in the community, and here you are, saying that they HAVE to work if they want food and shelter? They have to serve their sentences anyway! Of course they have to serve, but forcing them to work without pay, and without letting them go anywhere is slavery! It's the very definition of slavery! This is the same logic that was used by some of the slave owners in the Southern US states. No wonder that country is in such a terrible, terrible shape. Your arguments are illogical and utterly disgusting. |
