Message | Herr Präsident, We reject the uncalled for assault on our families conducted by Frau Weiner. Everyone incurs the same costs for raising children - to deny higher-income families child benefit is to hurt our families and family values in this country. We will never vote to support such regulations. die sehr ehrenwerte Janna Goddestreu, MdR (HDV - Phönix Schlossviertel) Klubobfrau |

Message | Herr Präsident, The idea that child benefit promotes family values is just completely baseless. Family values have stood long before child benefit was introduced and are not dependent on finances but the natural love and respect, parents and children have for one another. Wealthy families with net earnings of hundreds of thousands of HCRs certainly do not need two or three thousand HCR benefits from the State, this money would be better invested in other areas like oh, actually aiding needy children. Welfare for the wealthy is a gross perversion of the ideas that the founders of our welfare state had - primarily to provide for those who could not otherwise afford to provide for themselves. Message | Herr Präsident, while I generally agree with Frau Weiner regarding her opposition to welfare for the wealthy, I do not consider her position to be fully consistent. If those who can care for themselves should not be subsidized by the state, why then do we need to guarantee everyone, including those capable of earning a living on their own, unconditional minimum incomes, paid for by those who actually work? Harald Matsuyama, MdR LVP-Budenlar Vize-Staatsminister |

Message | Herr Präsident, I fear Herr Matsuyama is being a little devious and cruel here. While the tabloids commonly paint people on social welfare as work shy con artists and liars, the truth is most of them are at the very least, temporarily unable to work due to illness or just plain old bad luck in job hunting. Thus in a sense, they are not capable of earning a living on their own and the community should step in and assist them. Ebba Weiner DS Social Services Spokesperson OOC: This law on welfare is so vague. I always assume that it covers job seekers as well as those 'not supported' (whatever that truly means) |

Message | OOC: Since there is no specific law for unemployment benefits, you might be right. |

Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections. |
Random quote: First and second class seats on public transport shall be BANNED! We are all FIRST CLASS people, regardless of whether we are rich or poor and can afford or not afford to pay for a more expensive seat. From now on, all seats on trains, buses, trams, planes and so on shall be the SAME. We will all travel in the SAME way, TOGETHER. ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party |
