Details

Submitted by[?]: Die Sozialdemokraten

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 3615

Description[?]:

There is simply no need for animal research, it has never been proven to be more successful than other methods of research. It is more of a tradition for scientists rather than a necessity to use animals in research, often in alarmingly bad conditions.

MessageHerr Präsident,

we oppose restricting the methodology of scientific research - it shouldn't be up to us politicians to determine which practices are most viable to produce valuable results and innovations for society. Our job should be to impose a framework of ethical rules, but such a scheme is already in place, and the current regulations are more than sufficient.

MessageHerr Präsident,

We disagree of course, the point is there is no reason to use animals in scientific research and the way most of the animals who are used in research are treated (often euthanised due to trauma) is completely unacceptable. No one is accusing the scientific community of sadism, we realise that most of the post-research methods are unavoidable but research in the first place is avoidable and there are numerous alternatives to defenceless animals.
