Bill: Budget proposal of February 3619

Details

Submitted by[?]: Malivian Socialist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 3619

Description[?]:

The Malivian Socialist Front propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the Holy Malivian Empire.

Main changes:
90% cuts to the Head of Government's office. Government must be austere and dedicate funds to serve the nation. No more of Unity luxuries.
A 25% reduction in the Foreign Affairs budget. Our nation's health, education and justice departments are severely underfunded after years of Unity reactionary government. Sacrifices must be made...
A 9% cut in Defense spending. Malivia shall now be a peaceful nation, arming for peace and not for war. Massive inefficiency and Unity cronyism in the military has meant that even spending 72% of the budget in defence, the military was not always effective.
A quadrupling of spending in the Justice department, to fund the universal right to legal aid and speedier courts. No more of the slow justice process that characterised the stagnant years of Unity government!
A 275% increase in funding to the National Healthcare Service, allowing for further implementation of the NHS and improvements to health.
A quadrupling of the Education & Culture budget, reflecting recent changes to Museum Funding law as well as the government's intention to improve educational standards.
Reversing cuts to the Science & Technology Department.
Doubling spending on Environment & Tourism, allowing for sustainable growth and diffusion of the Malivian culture worldwide.

All these increased in spending will be more than paid by the increase in government revenue as a result of the Progressive Taxation Act.

Random fact: "Game mechanics comes first." For example, if a currently-enforced bill sets out one law, then a player cannot claim the government has set out a contradictory law.
