Herr Präsident,

The postal service is vital to our communities and to the proper functioning of our economy, as well as being an intrinsic part of our historic heritage. We should rescue it from the profiteers and return it to the people.

MessageHerr Präsident,

now that the post is private, the people have a much bigger chance of directly influencing the behavior of the company management, as they can buy shares and become part-owners, or simply act in their capacity as customers, whose satisfaction is paramount for any successful entrepreneur. Nothing like that would be possible if the post were re-nationalized, and put under the control of the bureucracy and the state.

MessageHerr Präsident,

Herr Holzinger forgets that if the post was public, the people could directly influence its management through their democratically elected representatives. But perhaps LV do not place much faith in the ability of the people to govern themselves through representative democracy rather than being dictated to by unelected, money-grabbing corporate bureaucrats who ignore their own workers and customers whilst paying themselves heft bonuses every year?

MessageHerr Präsident,

I will ignore Herr Siegel's primitive and populist rant against those who create wealth with their entrepreneurial acitivity, but I will not ignore his first argument, as it seems to suggest that companies cannot be held accountable without them being under public control. As long as democracy remains intact in our country, the laws can always be changed so that companies must bow to the popular will - it does not matter in this respect whether they are owned privately or publicly.

MessageHerr Präsident,

We find it puzzling that Herr Holzinger thinks an energy provider will be more accountable to the public as a private monopoly than as a public service accountable to ministers and the Reichstag. If LV ministers and legislators are not competent to fulfil the function of holding an energy service to account, then I can assure him that Solidarity ministers and legislators would be!

MessageHerr Präsident,

that's the difference between me and Herr Siegel - I want companies to be accountable to the consumers, who constitute the public as well, while he wants them to be accountable first of all to "ministers and the Reichstag". He just cannot tolerate the idea of something not being under direct control of government and public sector unions.
