Bill: Emergency Economic and Tax Correction Act of December 3620
Details
Submitted by[?]: Royal Malivian Freedom Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 3621
Description[?]:
In an effort to stop the economic recession facing the Malivian people, the Freedom Party of Malivia proposes to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Holy Malivian Empire. After the Socialists recklessly took unnecessary money out of the economy though indefensible tax increases (up to 350% of previous) to generate a surpluses of over 16 Billion the past year, we believe it is our duty to return this money to all the Malivian people in a significant tax cut, up to 78% for some Malivians. Even the poorest tax bracket will be receiving a cut from 12% to 10% as the nation returns to a flat tax system to promote economic growth, vertical economic mobility, and the empowerment of Malivian's to purchase the goods and services they need. |

These messages have been posted to debate on this bill:

Message | We violently oppose this bill and the lies made in its presentation. It reveals that the Freedom Party does not understand the concepts of tax brackets. It is also a lie that the very poorest will receive a tax cut, as they will reintroduce tax for all those earning between 1 and 1000 Malivian Crowns. |
Date | 20:07:23, February 11, 2014 CET | From | Hosian Democratic Party | To | Debating the Emergency Economic and Tax Correction Act of December 3620 |
Message | It appears from where the Conservatives sit that the Freedom Party's proposed taxation of everyone's first 1000 MCR follows nicely with the Socialists' principal objective: making the poor poorer is just fine as long as the rich are less wealthy. In any event, this represents a tax cut for the vast majority of Malivians, and those who will not benefit from this bill are likely unemployed and do not stand to gain anything from any tax cut. |

Message | The Socialists understanding on taxes are about as mature as the tantrums it throws on the National Assembly floor during its opposition of our proposals. When the Socialist is able to run an economy without triggering a deep recession they can debate the idea of a flat tax and the many proven benefits it has. Now I suggest they run along and let the more mature parties debate and discuss the matter. |
Date | 07:40:42, February 12, 2014 CET | From | New Reform Party | To | Debating the Emergency Economic and Tax Correction Act of December 3620 |
Message | A tax cut as large as this would put us in to the red by 16 Billion. We would no longer have a surplus, and it could damage the economy, or future economic growth. We will vote against this bill and hope that the Freedom Party comes up with a more reasonable tax cut. |

Message | We encourage the New Reform Party to reread the bill's description and reconsider their stance on the proposal. The purpose of this bill is to return the 16 billion surplus from last year to the Malivian people through reduced taxes this year - essentially attempting to zero out the people's losses. This will allow the people to spend it on goods and services, providing a much needed boost to the economy. |

Message | I can not allow us to go into debt for the "betterment" of the Malivian people, it just doesn't make sense. If you would pass a more reasonable tax cut, one that doesn't put us into the red, then I would vote for it. |

Message | I must concur with the Conservative Party of Malivia |

Message | We are sorry to hear that you could not vote with us New Reform Party. Perhaps a future tax proposal after this year will be more to your liking. |
