Message | Herr Präsident, I reognize the positive impetus worker cooperatives can have on the economy, and agree that in some circumstances they can even be a successful business model, but I strongly object to government picking winners and losers on the market, and therefore distorting competition. Workers should be free to set up and run cooperatives with their joint capital, but this capital should come from themselves - which is possibly only through encouraging savings through low taxes - and should not have to be propped up by the taxpayers. Message | Herr Präsident, I am disappointed this proposal has not met with more support in the Reichstag. This was a real opportunity to move our economy towards a fairer and more democratic model. Max Siegel MdR Chairman of Solidarity Leader of the Opposition |
