MessageMr. Speaker,

There is no need to raise the sales tax as Rutania currently runs a surplus; why tax the populace even more? Consumption is already at lower levels since a 15% corporation tax was instituted. We are against the proposal to nationalize businesses. Rutania has long had a tradition of being a Capitalist nation where government has largely been absent from the economy.

Does UV seek to establish a state-planned economy?

MessageMr Speaker,

I would firstly like to thank the parliament for affording the United Voice a fair chance to enter into debate here in our national parliament - although I should note that it is only appropriate that we be allowed to respond to the challenge put forward to us by the Urban majority leader.

This Commonwealth should be deeply engaged in assuring our food and industrial security both now and into the future. Our government should, while respecting private enterprise, be able to designate crops and products of vital importance - and have mechanisms available to assure that our great land is never found to be lacking in times of need or crisis.

This is about planning for the future. If the United Voice must be the only party bold enough to bring such vision to the parliament's attention, then so be it.

We believe that the levy increase will be able to pay for any emergency security investments from our government, while further recognising the cost to the state that exists throughout the creation, transport logistics, and safety management of even the most basic of product.

This is a smart, common sense proposal for a united Commonwealth - and we are happy to stand behind it here today.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I'd just like to point out that the statements put forth by UV all but indicate their view for a Rutania built around Statism.
