Bill: Umweltgesetz 3622
Details
Submitted by[?]: Nationales Bürgerforum (NBF)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 3622
Description[?]:
An Act to encourage economic growth by reducing pollution regulations Herr Präsident, while the protection of the environment is a laudable goal, sometimes it is necessary to realise that the welfare of humans should come first. There may be some ehrw. members who feel that economic growth is not everything that matters, or something to that effect, and while we agree, I must point out that the presence and absence of prosperity is often all that lies between contentedness and misery. Edith Strötzel MdR NBF Caucus Leader |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government regulation of pollution in industry.
Old value:: The government enforces moderate pollution restrictions.

Message | Herr Präsident, I am perturbed that coming from a country of such stunning natural beauty and healthy environments, and claiming to represent rural interests, Frau Strötzel would seek such a radical solution. I come from rural Mitrania, Herr Präsident, and I can tell Frau Strötzel that our environment is pretty much key to our happiness and our pride in our surroundings. What her bill would do is unleash the full destructive tragedy of the commons on the beautiful mountain valleys of this land between the sea and the mountains, as green as emerald, and pollute it beyond recognition. I urge the House not to inflict this on our country, and I am disappointed that Frau Strötzel would even propose such a thing. shr. ehrw. Josefin Shimizu, MdR (HDV - Mitrania) Environment Minister |

Message | Herr Präsident, although in principle we agree with Frau Strötzel on this issue, we must caution that pollution inflicts massive damage to the private property of our citizens, especially that of farmers. In the latter case, especially if it affects fields, it may even be existence-threatening. The current regulation is by no means perfect, but we feel that a certain degree of environmental protection is necessary to protect property especially in rural areas. Message | Herr Präsident, Without enforceable anti-pollution regulations, we will have no anti-pollution regulations at all. This is a recipe for environmental anarchy. If this Bill passes, then as an asthmatic, I may have to consider moving house, because I dread to think what the air in our capital city will become like. Message | OOC: I would prefer if we treated this as if it were a proposal to have a low (as opposed to moderate) level of pollution regulations. Unfortunately, Particracy is a bit clunky in this regard. I should have clarified this earlier. |

Message | OOC: Yes, many of the legislation options could do with reviewing. |

Random quote: "We must show that liberty is not merely one particular value but that it is the source and condition of most moral values. What a free society offers to the individual is much more than what he would be able to do if only he were free. We can therefore not fully appreciate the value of freedom until we know how a society of free men as a whole differs from one in which unfreedom prevails." - Friedrich August Hayek |
