Bill: Death of Mikado Okatori Akihiko and Accession of Mikado Kurosawa II

Details

Submitted by[?]: Hosianisch-Demokratisches Verbund

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 3623

Description[?]:

(OOC: I am having Kurosawa II restore the use of era names as a means to distinguish himself from his famous predecessor. However, it will be in a more modern form: he will still be referred to by his given name in short usage, but formally he will be "His Imperial and Heavenly Majesty, the Hoshu Emperor Kurosawa of Gao-Soto" or "His Imperial and Heavenly Majesty, Emperor Kurosawa (II) Hoshu of Gao-Soto". Also, unlike the Japanese tradition, era names are not used as the sole posthumous way to refer to an Emperor - Gao-Soto has modernised to such an extent that the Emperor is referred to posthumously by his given name.)

It is with great sadness that we announce that the Mikado of Gao-Soto, Okatori Akihiko, has died peacefully in his sleep after a reign of over 60 years. In his memory, the Imperial Diet of Hulstria and Gao-Soto, along with the Imperial Court of Gao-Soto, in name of His Imperial and Heavenly Majesty, do accordingly proclaim that His late Majesty's reign henceforth be known as the Era of Shineichi ("new wisdom").

By his death, the Crown is rightfully come to his son, Crown Prince Okatori Kurosawa II, who we, the Imperial Diet of Hulstria and Gao-Soto and the Imperial Court of Gao-Soto, with the Crownland Diets of Hilgar, Mitrania and Touryou, do now proclaim to be our sovereign Mikado, His Imperial and Heavenly Majesty the Hoshu Emperor of Gao-Soto, Kurosawa, King of Kings and Emperor of Emperors, Lord of the Kunihito, Grand King of Hilgar, Mitrania and Touryou, Great Daimyo of Hulstria, Budenlar and Kuratha, King of Okopetlan, Speaker and Ruler of Istapalajtokayotl; Venerable Shaman-King of the Southern Utari Mosir; Son of the Sun and Emperor of the Llaqtu; Chief of Chiefs of Cifutingan.

In testimony to whose accession we, the Imperial Diet of Hulstria and Gao-Soto, with the Imperial Court of Gao-Soto, do proclaim in name of His Imperial and Heavenly Majesty, that the era of Hoshu ("the Maintaining") has began, in the hopes of maintaining the legacy of the late Shineichi Emperor Akihiko and of Okatori Kurosawa the Great, and the gains of peace, friendship and democracy that emerged from the September Revolution.

And we, the citizens of Gao-Soto, humbly pledge our allegiance to His Imperial and Heavenly Majesty, and hope for many happy years long to reign over us.

The Mikado is dead; long live the Mikado!

MessageOOC: Forgot to mention this! It should be Go-Kurosawa. "Go-" means second, younger, or later. If that is the Japanese translation you got, I would say Hoshu is correct.

MessageOOC: Sorry, I just noticed this. Kunikata has a number of minor differences in phonology from RL Japanese, using a more archaic pronunciation of a number of phonemes; for instance, し is pronounced "si" and not "shi". For that reason, the しゅ in the era name is pronounced "syu" instead of "shu", giving the era name "Hosyu".
