MessageHerr Präsident,

Today I bring to the house another measure to better adjust government policy to local situation. Here, it concerns the safety of lifes and properties in our local authorities due to the ever-present danger of fires.

It speaks for itself that a rural Gemeinde with lots of woodland will need different equipment from a bustling city like, say, Labsburg or Kien. The former needs planes to combat the danger of forest firest; the latter needs, perhaps, extra capacity in terms of vehicles. We believe it would be beneficial and efficient to give local authorities competence in this - we cannot plan everything from Kien, and we cannot effectively guide their use from Kien. Loss of life, destruction of property and natural heritage might be reduced if we implement this measure. I therefore ask the Reichstag to agree to this measure.
