Bill: Revised Coalition Proposal
Details
Submitted by[?]: Solidarität
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 3627
Description[?]:
Herr Präsident, It is clear from the General Election result that the people have voted for change. It is now our duty, as the elected politicians, to reflect that change in terms of both the composition of the government and how we govern the country. I propose a coalition government involving Solidarity and HDV. The terms we are offering are generous; HDV are offered 6 of the 13 ministries, despite being the much smaller partner. However, in order to be meaningful, such a coalition would require a clear agenda for change, and that is why we are insisting upon the passage of the Articles attached to this proposal. Message | OOC: I hope this proposal will be more palatable to HDV than the previous one, Marty! You will notice that HDV has been given the Education Ministry in exchange for losing the Science Ministry, the trade union reforms have been dropped and - as per HDV's request- proposal for toughening gun control and encouraging school prayer have been introduced. Additionally, as HDV requested, Solidarity is prepared to commit not to attempt to ban private schools or lower the school leaving age between now and the next election. |

Message | OOC: The union demands included the omission of the DWC article. I also remain opposed to immediately passing articles upon the formation of a new cabinet. They rob us of fun debates for the rest of the diet. I'd really prefer it if the policy programme of the coalition were instead commitments to be implemented later in the term. |
Date | 21:05:04, February 22, 2014 CET | From | Solidarität | To | Debating the Revised Coalition Proposal |
Message | OOC: I will take account of your preferences in future. Solidarity is likely to be quite stubborn over the worker co-operatives, though. If we can't get an agreement on that, then we may all need to go back to the drawing board! |
Date | 21:24:28, February 22, 2014 CET | From | Hosianisch-Demokratisches Verbund | To | Debating the Revised Coalition Proposal |
Message | OOC: It's a matter of being able to rp the consequences of making a u-turn. For that we need a separate bill debate. The worker's cooperatives will not receive HDV support as such but we would be interested in pursuing further involvement of employees in business (along the lines of what Germany does) |

Message | OOC: Not sure what you mean... |
Date | 13:00:13, February 24, 2014 CET | From | Hosianisch-Demokratisches Verbund | To | Debating the Revised Coalition Proposal |
Message | OOC: I'm sorry Aquinas, I just can't vote for the DWC article. |
Date | 13:01:35, February 24, 2014 CET | From | Hosianisch-Demokratisches Verbund | To | Debating the Revised Coalition Proposal |
Message | OOC: Because the variable isn't speaking of "worker's cooperatives", it's speaking "Democratic Worker's Councils" and "running a business", which suggests a sort of collective socialist enterprise. |

Message | Herr Präsident, We regret that we cannot support the coalition offered to us by Solidarity. Even in our modest position, we were elected on a manifesto that emphasised an economy in which all stakeholders are involved - the encouragement of worker ownership of business in a sort of socialised fashion, contrary to assertions made by Pastor Hummel, are out of step with that ideal. Empowering workers should take place within the current framework by improving worker codetermination and codifying that principle in corporate law, or encourage it through tax credits. Such would be more in line with Hosian social values (OOC: as first outlined in the Particracy equivalent of Rerum Novarum) than the solution proposed by Solidarity. We would also note our opposition to implementing legislation immediately upon the confidence vote of the Cabinet, as such rejects the necessary degree of dualism between legislature and executive. shr. ehrw. Message | Herr Präsident, We are disappointed our negotiations have been unsuccessful, but nevertheless, as a principled party which does not seek power for the sake of power, we have to accept the situation. I propose that we go to the country again at the nearest opportunity, to give the people of the Crowlands a second chance to decide how the country should be governed.
