Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: February 3628
Description[?]:
Gicho-sama, The monopoly of violence is a much-valued Hosian Democratic principle which we are keen to protect. The ownership of firearms, we believe, does not pass a simple cost-benefit check weighing the benefit to safety against the costs of increased access by malefactors to firearms. We believe that when one can trust the police as one should, it being the marvellous institution it is, there is no reason to wish to own a gun except when one professionally needs one. We therefore present to the Imperial Diet our measure for stricter gun control. Yogi Matsuru MdR (HDV - Hilgar) Justice Spokesperson |

Message | Herr Präsident, supporting the right of individuals to own guns and, in situations of imminent danger, using them for self-defense, is not a sign of distrust against the police as the HDV seems to suggest. Our police is of course a marvellous institution, but we can't possibly assume that they can turn up quickly enough whenever a crime happens, especially in private homes. We're therefore all against leaving the people defenseless in such situations. Ulrich Zeininger, MdR LVP-Budenlar geschäftsführender Justizminister |

Message | Herr Präsident, We strongly support this proposal to restrict gun ownership. This legislation will be essential if we are to reduce the number of deaths and injuries from gun tragedies. Max Siegel MdR Chairman of Solidarity |
Date | 07:27:53, February 25, 2014 CET | From | Fortschrittspartei / 進歩党 | To | Debating the Feuerwaffengesetz, 3627 |
Message | Herr Präsident, We refuse to vote for this assault on weapons, criminals will have access to weapons but the people don't, how do you expect them to defend themselves in case of imminent danger. Members of Solidaritat and HDV, you are putting many people's life in danger and it will be your fault when they die because they can't defend themselves, their lifes are on your hands, come to your senses and vote down this measure. Julia Lindenkrone MdR (R-Budenlar) Parteivonsitzender |
Date | 09:29:50, February 25, 2014 CET | From | Nationales Bürgerforum (NBF) | To | Debating the Feuerwaffengesetz, 3627 |
Message | Herr Präsident, we support this measure not because we distrust the police, but because we believe that individuals who are responsible should be allowed to own firearms not just for recreational purposes, but because they may need to defend themselves. As much as our police force is praiseworthy and professional, they can't teleport, and the time it takes for them to arrive at a dangerous situation is frequently less than the time it takes to kill or seriously injure someone. Furthermore, this measure will disarm law-abiding citizens, while criminals are unlikely to hand their weapons in, making this legislation completely counter-productive even if well-intentioned. Anton Mutschler MdR NBF Fraktionsvorsitzende |

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar). |
