Details

Submitted by[?]: Representatives of The Life Giving Bush

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 3634

Description[?]:

Article I: Firearms
A. Ownership of guns by private individuals.
Under the current legislation the private ownership of individuals states "Adult individuals may own guns under strict license conditions." This directly conflicts with The Scripture of The Life Giving Bush which states "All healthy leaves (people) living in the shelter of the bush, must be ready to take up the blessed arms of the Impenetrable shrub to defend your home, family, country, and bush"

We, The Representatives of The Life Giving Bush, propose to change the law to allow ownership of firearms as long as they do not have a history of dangerous mental illness or a violent criminality.

People with a history of violent crimes are "Plucked from the branches of The Eternal Bush , to make room for leaves that serve The Life Giving Bush" and are therefore not permitted religious freedom in the ownership of a firearm.

The mentally ill are considered unhealthy, in need of care, and not required to be able to take up arms, and own the means to do so, therefore they would also not fall under religious freedom to own a firearm.

B. Weapons allowed to private citizens
While many of the reasonings behind this change over lap with "Article I Sub A" the current law states "Only certain types of weapons may be owned by the general public, but these may be carried anywhere except as determined by the property owner." This law, while reasonable, makes certain ceremonial, and in home required weapons, illegal, such as BushMan Assault Rifles, used during bush soldier's funerals and given to children when they reach adulthood and are deemed responsible. The Reach of The Bush, which is a DMR (Designated Marksman's Rifle) which is said to have been given to the people of Bush Land by The Life Giving Bush itself, so its people could defend themselves at a distance during the crusades, among other firearms, blades, and warhammers.

We simply ask that the law be revised to "Citizens may own any type of weapons, but certain types are restricted to designated places." so that weapons of religious significance may be owned and used at proper times.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.

Random quote: "Democracy is in peril." - Ralph Nader (referring to turnout in the 1996 US presidential election)
