Message | *Senatoress LaQuisha Burns' time starts. She stands up as Senator Isaac Jacobs uses a laptop computer and a projector.* Way back in 2707, back when the Head of State of Cobura was known simply as the 'President', then-President Skylar Cheeseman, elected in 2706 on the ticket of one of the predecessors to the Brotherhood of Homies, the Chicken and Fries Party, and an ancestor of the current BoH National Chair, Skylar Cheeseman XXIX, said in a televised address to the Nation, broadcast live from The Arena of the Homies in the Irkawan city that was then known, quite ironically, as 'Galt's Gulch'... *The Senatoress motions to the Senator, who presses Play. A video of President Cheeseman starts playing.* "To the sociopaths who believe that, in the name of profit, it is fine to destroy the natural environment that we in Cobura are blessed with, I ask them to go to the coast of Dilganato Province and look across Lake Majatra. More specifically, look over at Deltaria. Believe me, you can't miss them--they're the only country bordering that Lake where the clouds are BROWN, for Pete's sake! *laughter emanates from the crowd* The deplorable condition of Deltaria's environment is what results from a Government that allows unbridled capitalism to trample on the environment. Their citizens must wear gas masks to do so much as bicycle down the block to get a gallon of milk. Their forests... well, they're almost gone. And don't even get me STARTED on that 'White Zone' they have over in Doron Akigo. They should call it what it is, rather than dolling it up--it's irradiated! No one can live there without them risking having a third arm grow out of their back! *more laughter, as well as applause* When I was but a wee bairn, my father, the dearly departed Harold Cheeseman, told me an old proverb dating from prehistoric times. 'When the last tree is cut, the last river poisoned, and the last fish is dead, man will discover that he cannot eat money.' It's not just an old saying, my fellow Coburans. It is truth. The day Terra's environment is totally destroyed is the day that we learn that the 'laissez-faire' capitalists were wrong, and that it is the social democrats and other assorted leftists who were right. *applause emanates from the crowd*" *The Senator stops the video at the Senatoress' request.* President Cheeseman hit the nail right on the head, y'all. That is why, upon the inevitable passage of this bill, the Brotherhood of Homies will be taking action to continue to protect Cobura's environment. Not us, of course--this legislation will tie the hands of the Homies currently in the national Government--but our hometown Homies all around Cobura. For example, as our cities get bathed in ugly, toxic pollution, our legal staffs will file lawsuits--and, in some cases, even criminal charges--against companies that choose to not control their pollution. After all, if you choose to willingly bombard people with polluted air and/or water, you are guilty of physical harm to them. At the least, they'll be charges and lawsuits for assault. At the most, there will be charges and lawsuits for negligent homicide. Not to mention the animal cruelty and damage to private and public property that results from unbridled pollution. That will only be the beginning. We are looking into the routes we can take to protect the animals of Cobura that are about to be thrown under the bus by this new domestic pet regulation. Lawsuits can and will result against companies that do not replant the forests they clear-cut. To my fellow Senators and Senatoresses, and to all the Coburans watching, listening and reading at home on the Homie's Pride TV, radio, and Internet networks as I speak these words, I and all of my fellow Homies promise that we will defend our environment to the best of our ability. Thank you. Senatoress LaQuisha Burns Member of the Praetorian Senate of Cobura |

Message | *Boos from the opposition wing* And where were these brown clouds over Cobura before the party opposite took power? We are not for pollution but people cant afford electric cars! We must trust the system of capitalism to adapt our nation as it has done in the past. Or does the United Left propose yet another job killing regulation? -Adorina Paulo,Senate Majority Leader, KpK |

Message | *Senatoress LaQuisha Burns facepalms as Senator Tyrone "Dawg Pen" Taylor starts speaking* They were everywhere, Captain Obvious! They were smothering every corner of this country of ours. It's been proven time and time again throughout Terra's history that corporations and other similar entities cannot be trusted to police themselves, especially in regards to environmental issues! 'People can't afford electric cars'? Are you kidding me? It's 3638! The electric car has been a thing on Terra for almost two thousand friggin' years! They're *very* affordable by now. I paid for mine when I was 15 with one summer's worth of yard work in the suburbs of Augusta, and it was ready to drive the moment I got my license at 16. And it was NEW! Not even used! Don't even try that line with us, 'cause it's a bunch of bull! Those of us on the left here in Cobura refuse to 'trust' unbridled capitalism. We will do our best to resist the crimes--social, environmental, and otherwise--that result from such. And since this bill will, for the most part, tie the hands of the Homies currently in control of the Executive branch of Cobura's national government, we'll be taking it to the streets as well as the COURTS, y'all! *The Homies of the Legislature stand up and applaud* The broadcast is still on, right? *One of the Homie's Pride TV (HPTV) camerawomen nods* Good. *He looks directly at the main camera* To any corporate types out there who plan on taking advantage of this new legislation to pollute as much as y'all want, the Homies have our eyes on you. Go ahead, poison the air. Poison the water. If you do, we'll be sure to keep tabs on every person, animal, and piece of property you've harmed, and we will not hesitate to take that evidence--and YOU--to court. We'll try our damndest to make sure environmental criminals pay up and/or go to prison for the damage they cause. Tyrone "Dawg Pen" Taylor Member of the Praetorian Senate of Cobura |
