Bill: Cabinet Proposal of July 3638
Details
Submitted by[?]: Left Coalition
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 3639
Description[?]:
This cabinet proposal notes the inactivity of the ruling coalition parties, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Liberal Socialist Party, on recent important legislative issues. We, the Left Coalition, suggest that a grand coalition be formed between Stanton House and ourselves to ensure that stable government can continue. Should the Second Electoral Reform Bill fail due to the continued abstentions of the Liberal Democrats and Liberal Socialists, we will expect the new administration to call for early elections in order to be able to pass the constitutional reform that a majority of assembly members support, but cannot be passed if over a third of assembly members continue to abstain. |

Message | "This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in " - Stanton House and Left Coalition are over 375 seats combined, shouldn't this have passed already? |

Message | OOC: Or, coming to think of it, it requires the support of all the parties included in the cabinet to go through, and there's one Lib Dem in the cabinet - the Grand Consul. Is that holding it up? |

Message | OOC: So the party which controls the office of Grand Consul cannot be removed from cabinet midterm, unless they vote for their own removal? Splitting the offices of HoS and HoG in future could remove that potential loophole. Alternatively create a convention whereby the HoS doesn't veto cabinet proposals if an Assembly majority supports them, depending on which branch of our government we want to have superiority. |

Random fact: The people in your nation don't like inactive parties. When you often abstain from voting for a bill, they will dislike your party and your visibility to the electorate will decrease significantly. Low visibility will means you are likely to lose seats. So keep in mind: voting Yes or No is always better than Abstaining. |
