Bill: Budget proposal of May 3639

Details

Submitted by[?]: Socialist Alliance

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 3640

Description[?]:

The Socialist Alliance propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the Republic of Aloria.

This budget will provide immediate increase in the quality of healthcare and education in Aloria almost doubling the budget for these public services. In addition, to prepare for the nationalisation process, the Infrastructure and Transport budget has received an increase.

Defence and Justice have received cuts because there is no immediate foreign threat to the Republic and the Justice Department is grossly over-funded for a department that merely deals with the upkeep of courts, police and prisons being handled by the Ministry of Interior.

In the 3940 budget we can expect:

- Further increases to social security budgets
- Increases to the budget of whatever department is chosen to run the Alorian Electricity Company
- A further cut to justice, with some of its budget moved to Internal Affairs to get more police on the beat.

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, special care must be taken to ensure realism is maintained when role-playing a government controlled by an ethnic and/or religious minority. If it is to be supposed that this government is supported by a majority of the population, then this should be plausibly and sufficiently role-played. The burden of proof is on the player or players role-playing such a regime to demonstrate that it is being done realistically
